Sochi: Hot, Cold, Yours
It may come as a surprise for many Americans, but Sochi is both a winter resort paradise as well as a popular summer beach getaway. In this nearly four-minute video, find out how Sochi balances two climate extremes as the result of its unique location along the Black Sea. Weather Channel fans - skip to the 2:07 mark to hear Jim Cantore describe the unique climactic conditions:

“No one really knows what will happen here. Could we have a day where it’s 20 Celsius in the mountains? Could we have a day where it’s snowing 4 to 5 to 6 inches an hour because they get perfect upslope from the Black Sea? We will have to see.”

And, just in case Sochi can’t deliver on the amount of natural snowfall to make the 2014 Winter Olympics a success, the Games organizers are already working on a plan to store snow over the next 7 months. High-res
